The tumor bank has been established in 1992, originally upon a collaboration of the Department of Surgery, Molecular Biology and Pathology of the University of Vienna.
Its goal is to collect human tumor surgical specimen for human molecular genetic studies focussing on translational research. Samples may be available for qualified research scientific community.
About 2000 specimens have been collected and catalogued. Tumor specimens and corresponding normal tissues are collected during operation, immediately snap frozen and stored in liquid nitrogen.
